The COVID-19 pandemic forced newsrooms to adjust how they work, including how they use SecureDrop. Now, we’re conducting a study to better understand SecureDrop users’ digital security practices and privacy needs, especially when communicating with sensitive sources.
We want to gain a holistic understanding of what journalists, newsrooms, and security experts in the field want and need.
We are inviting all users of SecureDrop — past and present — to participate in remote user research interviews with Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) staff, UX Designer Tina S. and Principal Researcher Martin Shelton. We’re interested in speaking with journalists, editors, administrators, security experts, and IT professionals who have used SecureDrop in a professional setting.
Insights from this study will directly impact the ongoing development of the next generation of SecureDrop.
Interviews will typically last between 45 and 60 minutes and will be conducted on Signal, or on a secure platform of your choice. The audio of the interviews will be recorded solely for note taking purposes, unless you indicate otherwise, and your information will remain completely confidential.
