Calling all open source maintainers – The GitHub Blog

Every day millions of people interact with open source software. But despite its reach, the people behind the software—the ones powering our digital world—don’t always have the community or support they need. To help with this, we are building a private space for maintainers to connect with peers, preview features, and learn from each other!

Calling maintainers 📣

If you’re an open source maintainer, you can request an invite to the private Maintainer Community on GitHub. We’re launching new programming for maintainers including:

  • Invitations to private maintainer events
  • Early access to betas and previews
  • Regular workshops to discuss and collaborate on open source best practices

The Maintainer Community is a private part of the public GitHub Community, a space for all GitHub users to ask questions, share product feedback, and be inspired.

Share and learn with peers 🎓

Our first Maintainer Community workshop, “Personal ecology for open source maintainers: self-care and avoiding burnout,” will be on Wednesday, April 5 at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET.

In this interactive workshop, maintainers will discuss the importance of personal ecology and steps they can take to improve their own balance, pacing, and efficiency. We’ll document and share best practices to help other maintainers avoid burnout.

Join the Maintainer Community to learn more and register!

Stay tuned for Maintainer May 🎉

We hope you’ll join us as we gear up for Maintainer Month this May. Stay tuned for more information on our Maintainer Month celebrations!
