Gartner has named AMP for Endpoints a Visionary in the 2018 Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP). Cisco is proud to be included in this auspicious report and honored to receive recognition from one of the most influential industry evaluations of endpoint security solutions. This is the first time Cisco Security has debuted in the Visionary quadrant, and is a testament to our innovation, execution, and commitment to endpoint security.
Important observations:
- This is Cisco’s first appearance in the Gartner EPP MQ, a strong debut. We expect to participate in more public industry reports in the near future. Stay tuned!
- The lack of execution in the Leaders quadrant is another sign of an evolving endpoint security market, where EPP and EDR are coming together.
- Nearly half of the vendors named in the EPP MQ did not exist before the year 2000, and the majority are not traditional anti-virus vendors.
Speaking of evolution, Endpoint Protection is now a mix of legacy anti-virus vendors, EDR vendors offering EPP capabilities, and a number of vendors, like Cisco, offering a more comprehensive approach with endpoint security as a critical component of their overall security strategy.
Endpoint security increasingly is shifting from older, less capable models using AV to a platform approach, providing Protection and Detection and Response (EDR) capabilities in a single solution. Cisco was categorized as a visionary, and this reflects our commitment to providing our customers with the complete solution.
I like it when we are recognized by the industry, but customers know best. For example, during a recent survey conducted by TechValidate, one customer measured the number of new vulnerabilities they discovered with AMP, and how they were able to reduce their response time by ten days. Perspective on this achievement
While this was our first year participating in the EPP MQ, it certainly will not be our last. This is but the latest in a multi-year, continuous investment in endpoint security and changing the security equation through integrating technologies with innovation. Our inclusion as a visionary reinforces the growing importance of an integrated security architecture from the cloud, to the network, to the endpoint in order to continuously optimize time to detection and prevent incidents.
