In a move that should surprise no-one, FireEye acquired Mandiant for around $1 billion, closing the deal on 30 December and announcing it on 2 January. The two companies have been getting closer over the last year: a year ago they entered a technology development agreement, while FireEye chairman and CEO David DeWalt joined the Mandiant board at around the same time as he joined FireEye from McAfee.
